EVERY councillor was behind the call for the referendum.

But it will only happen if the final decision is referred back to them from Communities and Local Government Secretary Hazel Blears.

This is the most likely event after new legislation which comes in from April devolving the power to create parish councils away from the secretary of state to councils.

The petition for a parish will now be sent to the Government, along with residents' comments and council recommendations.

It will also suggest that there should be 12 parish councillors should it be created - four for each of the three wards.

Comments from residents also include 31 letters and a 368-signature petition against the plans.

The 'anti' group are keen to hear from those who support their view.
