GORDON Brown should call a General Election to give voters a voice on the running of community services.

Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps is demanding the Prime Minister takes the country to the polls.

The furious Tory politician tore into the Government after last week's announcement that protests had fallen on deaf ears and three post offices in his constituency will be axed.

He told the WHT that yet again a "so-called consultation has been shown to be completely meaningless".

Mr Shapps said: "The Government is the only shareholder in the Post Office and once again they've displayed their complete and contempt for our community.

"It almost feels like they are out to wreck our area.

"Not satisfied with slashing our QE2 Hospital to its bare bones, now they're closing down our post offices which will be greatly missed by local residents.

"Next this tired old Government is coming after our GP surgeries."

He said: "In my view it's time Gordon Brown called a General Election so we can have our say on the way that our community services are run.

"I believe my fellow Welwyn Hatfield residents are completely fed up with our services being slashed and closed.
