GERMAN comedian Henning Wehn will be headlining the second Doctors Tonic Comedy Club show tonight (Wednesday) in Welwyn Garden City.

PRIME Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are just two of German comedian and “social commentator” Henning Wehn’s targets.

The self-styled ‘German Comedy Ambassador to the UK’ is out to prove that Germans can be funny, and is currently supporting viciously scathing satirist Stewart Lee on his UK tour and is described as “not to be missed”.

The stand-up has also featured on Lee’s acclaimed BBC show Comedy Vehicle, as well as several radio appearances.

Taking time out to talk to Venue, London-based Wehn mocked David Cameron for claiming that Britain’s “best years lie ahead”.

“A silly thing to say,” said Wehn “for a country that once owned half the globe”.

German leader Merkel also gets a scathing riposte from Wehn for her infamous, and possibly mistranslated, claim that “multiculturalism is dead”.

When asked if he was looking forward to his gig at the Doctors Tonic, the effervescent comic simply said “big time!”

The familiar jibe about the famous German sense of humour is something Wehn embraces pragmatically.

“It’s good. It makes it easy and lowers expectations.

“It’s a win-win situation for me – either I’m funny or I live up to the national stereotype.”

Joining the German jokester at the WGC pub tonight (Wednesday), will be Dan Wright, Sean Brightman and Andy Normile. MC is Mike Manera.

Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm.

Tickets cost 7.
