David Cameron has returned to Downing Street after the Tories defied polls and won the Parliamentary election.

Commenting on the outcome, Yolanda Rugg, chief executive of Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “We congratulate David Cameron and the Conservative Party on their election victory, with all Conservative seats retained in Hertfordshire.

“Businesses in all parts of the United Kingdom want to see a pro-growth, pro-enterprise programme – building on the positive steps taken, and lessons learned, during the Coalition years.

“The Conservatives now have a clear mandate to take bold and important decisions, and must use it to help British businesses invest and grow.

“Hertfordshire business stands ready to work with the new Government to deliver increased prosperity, jobs and sustained economic growth.”
