A former Welwyn Garden City resident is walking through WGC and Hatfield dressed as Darth Vader to raise money for Children in Need.

Gavin Harrison, who now lives in Pudsey in West Yorkshire, is making his ‘Imperial March’ from Coldstream in Scotland to BBC television studios in London, wearing a replica Darth Vader suit.

Gavin will start his 400-mile journey on Sunday, October 30, and arrive in London on Friday, November 18, stopping off at charities that have been helped by Children in Need along the way.

He said: “I am hoping to have friends and colleagues or anyone wishing to join me in Star Wars replica costumes throughout my journey.

“I want to coincide the date that I arrive at the studios to the big night of Children In Need to have as much impact as possible, in order to raise as much as I can for this magnificent cause.”

Gavin has a fundraising target of £5,000. Several donors have contributed including the message “May the Force be with you” with their cash.
