ARE you struggling with excess garden waste?

If so, then perhaps Hertsmere Borough Council can help.

Because, for a small fee, the authority is providing Potters Bar residents whose green/brown bins are overflowing with special sacks.

The sacks, which cost 50p each, are for garden waste only, such as grass clippings, weeds, twigs and hay.

They should not be filled with food waste and cardboard and should not be put out more than five days before your scheduled collection.

The sacks are available from the Furzefield Centre, in Mutton Lane, and the Wyllyotts Theatre, off Darkes Lane.

Jean Heywood, the council’s environment portfolio holder, said: “We’ve introduced these sacks to make it easier for residents to recycle their garden waste during the summer when more of it is produced.

“So if you fill up your bin when you’re cutting the grass and gardening, use one of our bags.”
