Hatfield’s University of Hertfordshire has lauded the world’s first international Game of Thrones conference which was held on its site.
Last week’s event saw fans from as far away as New Zealand flock to the De Havilland Campus to uncover the secrets of the show’s success.
The university’s Kim Akass, conference co-organiser, said: “It included contributions from international scholars addressing the series’ overwhelming success and provided scholarly insight into some of the most prominent themes.
“They included the representation of gender, motherhood, politics and power, death and trauma as well as explorations into its international popularity and the diversity of its fan base.”
She added that the university was very lucky to have keynote speeches from prominent GoT scholars, including professor Anne Gjelsvik, associate professor Rikke Schubart and professor Martin Barker.
