A 21-YEAR-OLD man had to be freed by firefighters after an explosion in Mill Green this morning (Friday).
Five fire engines were sent to the pumping station in Mill Green Lane after a series of three blasts were reported.
The 21-year-old worker who had leg injuries was taken to the QE2 Hospital along with another man suffering from facial wounds.
Ambulance spokesman Gary Sanderson said when he looked through the door, he noticed "the damage the explosion had caused".
Gas engineers from Transco and officers from the Health & Safety Executive are still en route to the scene.
Mill Green Lane is currently closed to traffic.
