Galleria Hatfield bomb scare: ‘Device not explosive’, say police

A BOMB scare at the Galleria has ended after the device was found to be a damaged piece of electrical kit and not an explosive.

Officers from Hertfordshire Constabularywere scrambled to the shopping mall this morning (Wednesday) just after 9.45am am, following reports of a suspicious device.

Experts from the EOD [Explosive Ordnance Device] bomb disposal unit also attended the scene.

A police spokeswoman said: “After investigation the device was deemed to be non-explosive and was a damaged electronic device.

“Comet Way, which had been closed during the investigation has now reopened and the incident came to a conclusion at 12.15pm.”
