RESIDENTS will suffer. That's according to a furious Labour stalwart as they lost a seat in the Peartree ward for the first time ever.

The election results proved a shock as Liberal Democrats took two of the three seats previously occupied by Labour.

Furious Colin Croft, who retained his Hatfield Central seat and is Labour party agent, told the WHT: "There isn't too much I can say that would be worthy of print."

Liberal Democrat candidate Louise Lotz, said now she is elected she plans to secure a swimming pool in the Broadwater area and wants to help save the post offices.

She added: "I'm very excited after all these years of hard work, it has really paid off."

Current county councillor Malcolm Cowan (Lib Dem) was also elected. Labour deputy leader Steve Roberts retained his seat, while colleague Jacqui Russell lost hers.
