Welwyn Fire Station is set to hold a car wash event to raise money for two charities.

The London Road-based station will fundraise for Whizz-Kidz and The Fire Fighters Charity on April 1, from 9am “until we run out of soap or customers”.

Crew Commander Mac Engledew said: “The Fire Fighters Charity helps thousands of firefighters, and supports staff and their families each year with rehabilitation and recovery from injury.

“It also supports them with their return to work, and could not do this without donations from organised events.

“Whizz-Kidz provides disabled children and young adults with vital mobility equipment, opportunities to meet and have fun, and training to help them gain skills and look forward to a brighter future.”

Mac is also tackling the London Marathon to raise money for the children’s charity.
