Fundraisers are set to hold an 'afternoon of fun' to raise money for a Welwyn Garden City girl who nearly died of meningitis.

Clare James’ daughter Amelia, aged two, was at “death’s door” according to doctors after suddenly showing symptoms of the life-threatening disease in May.

Friends and family have been rallying to cover the family’s expenses, which are mounting with food and travel bills.

After holding a successful stall at Creswick Primary and Nursery School earlier this month, friends and family have arranged the latest event for Wednesday, August 9.

It will take place between 12pm and 4pm at Woodhall Community Centre, where there will be a bouncy castle, tea, coffee, squash, cakes, craft tables and a tombola. Entry is £5 per family.
