Friends raise over £3,000 for eight-year-old Welwyn Garden City boy who has cancer

Nine men raised over £3,000 for a Welwyn Garden City boy, who has cancer, after they put their shavers to one side and grew their beards.

The group fundraised for Mason McDermott, of Glenwood, so that he could have a better Christmas.

Mason was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on September 15, just six days after his eighth birthday.

After collecting donations the group of friends, Buckle Mason, Chaz Monahan, Chris Dowler, Dave Conroy, Dave

Quinn, Gary Parratt, Nick Roundtree, Scott Verlander and Rob Hal, handed Mason a cheque of £3,150.

Chris Dowler, who took part said: “We want to thank the local community for getting together and contributing towards this cause.”
