FANCY taking a friend to Europe's largest and most prestigious craft event in Hatfield?

Then pick up a copy of this week's WHT for a special two-for-one ticket offer for the Living Crafts festival at Hatfield House.

The work of hundreds of the UK's finest craftsmen and women will be celebrated at the stately home over the next four days.

Subtitled 'Art, Design and Innovation,' the 35th annual festival runs from tomorrow (Thursday) until Sunday.

And there is a coupon in this week's WHT that allows readers to take a friend for free.

Organiser Robin Younger said: "A lot of the skills exhibited in the show are going to die out if they are not carried out regularly.

"Shows like this give people the perfect opportunity to keep these age-old skills alive."

The event attracts tens of thousands of people each year, to enjoy crafts including studio ceramics, turned wood and stained glass.

There will be lectures, hands-on workshops and demonstrations, including a talk by children's author and illustrator Paul Geraghty, a brass band and a Punch and Judy show.

Mr Younger added: "We are proud of the reputation the show has maintained over more than three decades and will do our utmost to continue to build on it, for the next 30 years."

Codicote Primary School pupils will be Maypole and Morris dancing, to promote English traditions among the young.

Local arts and crafts groups will be showcasing skills including glassblowing, clay modelling, spinning and weaving and silk painting.

Family tickets are 21 in advance, and 23 on the day.
