A FREE day of sporting activities for those aged over 45 is being staged to get people back into sport.
The first 45+ Games will take place next Wednesday, June 18 at Hertfordshire Sports Village in Hatfield.
The event aims to show it's never too late to get involved in sport and physical activity - whether you regularly take part or have never played sport or taken part in exercise before.
On offer as part of the free all-day programme will be sessions led by qualified instructors in a range of activities from Nordic walking to tag rugby, dance and swimming.
Herts Sports Partnership's sports development manager John O'Callaghan said: "As someone who qualifies to participate in these games, and a big rugby fan, I am probably representative of a large number of people, who were once very active and who participated in a wide range of sports but who have seen that activity level taper off as the years have rolled by.
"Thankfully bone-crunching tackles from opposing back row forwards are a thing of the past, but we can still benefit hugely from active lifestyles and continued involvement in our local sports club."
He added: "It really is never too late to get involved or get back involved in sport and physical activity programmes, and I hope that as many 45+ers as possible will join us for the forthcoming games, where the emphasis will be on a bit of a workout, and a chance to meet new friends."
