AROUND �3,000 was raised at the mayor’s annual civic dinner and dance, attended by former Arsenal goalkeeper, Bob Wilson.

The black tie event held at at Beales Hotel in Hatfield was hosted by mayor Kim Langley and featured talented local young singers Emma and Laura Cook, Conor Walker and national singing act Serenity, as well as Scottish Highland Dancer Daisy Watkins and nine-year-old juggler Ben Thoburn.

The evening helped raise funds for Cllr Langley’s chosen charities, Welwyn Hatfield Women’s Refuge and the Old Hatfield-based Willow Foundation (founded by Bob and wife Megs) and also involved a lavish three course meal, charity auction and raffle.

Cllr Langley said: “It was a great opportunity for me to meet more people from around the borough, as well as raise vital funds for my charities, have a really good meal and enjoy some excellent entertainment.”
