FORMER Welwyn Hatfield MP Melanie Johnson is to make a bid to return to the House of Commons.
Ms Johnson, who represented the constituency between 1997 and 2005, has been shortlisted along with seven other women as Labour's parliamentary candidate for Erith and Thamesmead.
She will learn if she has been selected at a meeting of the local Labour party on April 18.
Ms Johnson was unseated by Tory candidate Grant Shapps in May 2005, following an 8 per cent swing at the polls.
