A FORMER Welham Green businessman has become the latest foreign billionaire to buy a professional football club.
Markus Liebherr, a Swiss national, completed his takeover of League One Southampton FC on Thursday, ending months of speculation over the future of the famous club, nicknamed the Saints.
The 61-year-old is a former director of Liebherr Holdings, an international machinery company which had its base in Travellers Lane, Welham Green, from 1961 until 2004.
