CLASSIC rock fans are in for a treat when The Rodford Files come to St Albans tonight (Sunday).

The Rodford Files are Jim Rodford (bass), Russ Rodford (guitar), Steve Rodford (drums) and Derek Timms (guitar and vocals).

Formed in St Albans a decade ago, the four-piece, in their own words, offer "solidly-played blues and rock with a touch of jazz".

And the musicians certainly have a good pedigree, as Jim, 67, played with rockers The Kinks between 1978 and 1996, while son Steve has performed with The Zombies since 2004.

The Rodford Files will be at The Boot in St Albans on Sunday, December 28.

Those who attend can expect to hear a selection of well-crafted rock covers, from a range of bands including The Kinks, The Rolling Stones and The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

The music will start at 5pm and the band are expected to perform a two-hour set.

Entry is free. For more information, including details of the band's future gigs, visit www.lemonrock.com/rodfordfiles
