Paramedics treated a stricken footballer and took him to hospital, but were unable to save his life.
A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service told the Welwyn Hatfield Times that a player had collapsed at the pitch at Lemsford Village Hall just after 11am on Sunday.
An ambulance, a community first-aider and a rapid response vehicle arrived, and the man was treated on the way to Stevenage’s Lister Hospital.
But the Hertfordshire FA has confirmed that the man did not survive.
