Foodbank appeal for Hatfield shoppers to help

GENEROUS food shoppers in Hatfield are being asked to donate to those in need.

Tesco Extra, in Oldings Corner, will be handing customers special lists asking them to pick up an item, such as long-life milk or cereal, to donate at the end of their shop.

The store will be joined by foodbanks charity, the Trussell Trust, and food redistribution charity FareShare for the collection this Friday and Saturday.

The items will be handing to Trussel Trust where they will give them to people in a time of crisis.

Mark Townsend, store manager at Hatfield Tesco, said: “Our customers were incredibly generous when we held our last food collection in December, so we’re hoping to collect an even bigger total this time around.

“All our colleagues and volunteers from the Trussell Trust are really looking forward to the collection as it gives us a real opportunity to help local people who are in need.”
