THE first picture showing the aftermath of a huge fire that closed the M25 in Potters Bar has been released.

The picture was tweeted by fire chief Roy Wilsher and shows firefighters dampening down the smouldering remains of buildings.

Twelve fire engines were called to the scene at Dancers Hill Road after a fire started in a tree at around 3.10pm.

The fire then spread to a nearby industrial estate and gas canisters exploded causing thick black smoke to billow on to the M25.

Diversions have now been put in place after it was closed between junctions 23 and 25.
