Firefighters from Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield rushed to help a car crash on the A1(M) yesterday.

The engines were called to between junctions seven and six southbound to help extinguish a fire which had supposedly erupted after a car crash.

However, when they arrived there was no blaze.

Instead, the firefighters gave medical care to one casualty.

It all happened at about 8.30am.
