Firefighters are tackling the blaze in Potters Bar


Firefighters have been battling a fire in Potters Bar since the early hours of this morning (Friday).

A large amount of hay is on fire in a field along Bakers Street.

The road is currently closed both ways between the Dancers Hill Road junction and Sawyers Lane junction.

Police were called at 2.30am and four fire crews are currently on the scene.

Herts Fire and Rescue tweeted this morning: “We have had 4 crews working on a fire since the early hours of this morning in Baker Street, Potters Bar. They have a large amount of hay on fire which can be seen from the M25 between junction 23 & 24 and are being assisted by the farmer with tractors to move it”

A police spokesman said it is not clear at the moment what caused the fire.
