Police were called at around 5pm on Sunday, November 11 to reports that a tree was on fire in Herns Lane in Welwyn Garden City, near Panshanger golf course.

Three fire engines attended and found that it was a bonfire that had got out of control, and put it out with a hose reel.

Social media reports suggest that fireworks were in use, but police found no evidence of these at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “Words of advice were given.”
