Fire engines from three different stations have attended a blaze on the M25.

At 12.15pm firefighting teams from St Albans, Potters Bar and Cheshunt put out the fire on the central reservation between Junction 23 for Hatfield and South Mimms, and Junction 24 for Potters Bar.

Motorists were advised to avoid the stretch of road in both directions.

Nearly 100 emergency calls had been made.

The control room “quickly dealt with the incident,” according to a tweet from Herts Fire Control.

“Red Watch Control stayed calm and showed resilience dealing with all calls as if they were the first - checking all details and reassuring their callers.”
