BMW driver fined hundreds of pounds for A1(M) road traffic offence

A BMW driver has been ordered to pay nearly £600 after driving on the hard shoulder or emergency refuge area of the A1(M) between Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield.

At 6.10pm on April 16, Mark Shipton drove on the hard shoulder or refuge area.

He did not appear at St Albans Magistrates’ Court when his case was proved on October 10.

The 44-year-old of Marden Hill, Hertford, was fined £440.

He must also pay victim services £44 and costs of £85.

His driving record was endorsed with three points.
