SIMON Pegg, Nick Frost and director Edgar Wright are heading back to Welwyn Garden City, to continue filming for new comedy The World’s End.

Following a pre-shoot last month, the film’s cast and crew are due back in town tomorrow (Thursday) to shoot scenes for the third film in Pegg and Wright’s so-called Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy.

It follows the pair’s box-office hits Shaun of the Dead in 2004, and 2007’s Hot Fuzz.

The World’s End stars Pegg as Gary King, who meets up with four childhood friends to re-attempt an epic pub crawl through their home town.

Today, pubs in WGC the town centre were being re-named in preparation for the two-week shoot.

The Cork in Howardsgate is now The Famous Cock, while The Parkway Tavern in Parkway has become the Cross Hands.

The Doctors Tonic was re-named the The Old Familiar for the pre-shoot in September, while The Peartree in Woodhall Lane was transformed into The First Post.

Early promotional posters for the film suggest that these will be the first four pubs the friends visit in the movie.

Filming will take place in the town centre on October 4, 11 and 16 – but producers have remained tight-lipped about exactly which locations will be used.

The crew will also be shooting in other locations across WGC in the next two weeks.

Parking suspensions will be in place in Parkway, Howardsgate, Wigmores North and Stonehills on the three days of town centre filming.

Despite several attempts by the Welwyn Hatfield Times for more detailed information regarding traffic suspensions, neither Welwyn Hatfield Council nor production company Big Talk could elaborate further.

A council spokeswoman said: “Signs will indicate this in the specific areas before filming starts. There will also be short suspensions in the morning on other days, although this is subject to alteration.

“We are striving to keep this to a minimum so people are not inconvenienced too much.”
