LEWIS Hamilton drove to his 11th career Formula 1 victory in Singapore earlier today (Sunday).

The 24-year-old from Herts won the Singapore Grand Prix by more than 12 seconds from Timo Glock.

It was the second win of the season for the F1 world champion, who dominated the 2009 Singapore night race from start to finish.

After blowing his podium chances in Italy a fortnight ago on the final lap by crashing, Hamilton was delighted to take the chequered flag around the Marina Bay street circuit under floodlights.

Hamilton said: "We came here hoping for a good result - and I wanted to redeem myself after the last lap in Monza - and we got it!"

He added: "I made a good start and I knew I was running longer than the guys behind me, so I was able to bridge the gap back to them.

"It was a very nicely controlled race in that way."

The Japanese Grand Prix takes place next weekend at Suzuka.
