AN EYEWITNESS has described the huge blaze at an historic coaching inn in Welwyn.
The Wellington, in High Street, went up in flames in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
More than 50 firefighters attended the inferno.
Talking to the Welwyn & Hatfield Times at the scene, Mimram Walk resident Brian Dyball, 75, said: "The fire woke me up at 5am. There was so much crackling.

"The amount of smoke was enormous; it was billowing into the sky.
"I could see no flames, just copious amounts of smoke."
