The South Mimms centre is now open until 7.30pm on Thursdays throughout the summer.
Centre manager Anna White said: "We appreciate there are lots of people who are unable to visit us during our normal opening hours of 11am until 4.15pm and we know lots of them want to adopt a rescue animal and would be good owners, so we want to give them the chance to visit us later."
Anna added: "We at Southridge want to do everything we can to maximise the chances of our animals getting good homes.
