Explosion rips off roof in village blast

Firefighters were called after a roof was blown off in an explosion.

The blast took place after a build up of gases in an agricultural silo at Warrengate Farm, in Tewin.

A spokeswoman at Welwyn Garden City Fire Station told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “An explosion blew the roof off.”

Firefighters reported a “controlled burn” on the scene today (Wednesday).

Crews from WGC and Hertford mobilised to the explosion and smoke on the B1000 near the village.

The blaze and explosion were dealt with by noon.
