A FORMER Welwyn Hatfield Labour councillor has defected to the Tories.
Sam Smith, who was also a Labour party campaign organiser, served WGC's Haldens ward on the borough council after winning a by-election in June 2005.
He stood down at the full round of elections last year.
This week he announced he has officially joined the Conservative Party ranks.

Mr Smith said: "The higher I have risen in the Labour party, the more I have seen evidence of policy failure and a lack of morality.
