MORE than £500 was raised at a charity quiz night organised by the Welwyn Hatfield Times’ news editor.

The event was held at Campus West on Friday, with 10 teams taking part.

Dave Burke is part of an 18-strong team trekking to Everest Base Camp in November, in aid of the Isabel Hospice, and he set up the event to help the fundraising.

After the quiz, at Campus West, WGC, he said: “It was fantastic.

“I’m delighted so many people came along, and was moved by how generous people were supporting the event.

“There were raffle prizes donated by lots of businesses, including Hatfield House, The Galleria, The Gift Company, Nando’s, Cafe Nero, Harvester, Alan Soper Heating and Plumbing, Waterstones, and my own company, Archant.

“Staff at Campus West were fantastic, and Steph Hughes was a great quizmaster.

“I’m hugely grateful to everyone who came along.”

Dave has now raised more than £1,000 of his £5,000 target. To donate towards Dave’s trek go to http://www.justgiving.com/Dave-Burke1

“The hospice is a fantastic cause, and I really hope the hard work going into the Everest trek will pay off.”
