Election 2011: Welwyn Hatfield counter celebrates

A WGC man is celebrating his 65th birthday by counting votes for yesterday’s election.

Alan Brooks who has worked as a poll clerk and counter for many years put on hold his retirement as he joined the dozens of counters here at Rollercity in WGC.

He said counting was a strange thing to be doing on your birthday, but he was looking forward to his retirement too.

The 65-year-old from Panshanger said he would planned to spend time with the grandchildren and further his hobby of genealogy.
