A Potters Bar care home resident had some surprise visitors after becoming locked in her bedroom.
Firefighters were called to the home in Watkins Rise, Potters Bar, after an elderly woman had fallen asleep with her bedroom door locked.
The Potters Bar crew was called at about 5.30pm yesterday.
They put a ladder against the building to reach the woman’s bedroom window on the first floor and spent about 15 to 20 minutes calling out to her.
Although she began to stir, she did not wake up.
Firefighter Wayne Dale said: “We were shouting through the window. Then we had to smash through the bedroom door.
“As soon as we went into the bedroom she asked for a cup of tea. She was fine.”
