Harts School of Dance from Goffs Academy joined the 103rd birthday celebration of Cuffley Manor Care Home resident Eileen Hayes.

Eileen was a ballet teacher all her life until she was 90 years old. She started dancing when she was four.

The 103-year-old said: “I’ve had a wonderful life and was really happy when I was able to dance. It was lovely to see girls performing and as a teacher I was looking at their feet, to make sure they are dancing the way they should be.”

When she was asked what the secret of her long life was, she said: “I have never really liked alcohol and danced all my life.

“Once you find the passion of what you do, then the life is not that boring and long as it may look.”

A spokeswoman for the home said: “We wish Eileen health and happiness and many more years to come.”
