Pupils at a Welwyn Garden City primary school got into their sports gear to raise money for Sport Relief.

Holwell Primary School in Welwyn Garden City had a non-uniform day to raise money for the charity.

The children got to come into school either wearing bright red or sport-themed clothes of their choice, and each donated £1.

Nearly all the pupils in the school also took part in a fitness circuit in the afternoon.

Headteacher Joe McIntyre said: “The children look amazing, although we have far too many Arsenal tops for my liking.

“There are also pupils dressed for karate and ballerinas.

“They’ve all brought in money and we have been finding out where the money goes.”

The school had official Sport Relief wristbands available for pupils to buy.

In total they managed to raise £355 for the charity.

Sport Relief held events throughout the UK from Friday, March 18 to Sunday, March 20. Half of the money raised by Sport Relief goes to helping people in the UK, and the other half goes to helping people in the world’s poorest communities.
