A Welwyn Garden City school which recently gained academy status invited the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire to mark its official opening.
The Ridgeway Academy in Panshanger, formerly Sir Frederic Osborn School, welcomed Lord Lieutenant Robert Voss to the school to celebrate joining the Albans Academies Trust.
The academy has a new uniform and has had an investment of more than one million pounds for a refurbishment programme and new resources.
The Lord Lieutenant was greeted by headteacher Jed Whelan, head boy Satvika Sinha and head girl Megan Nicolson, and attended a celebratory assembly with a musical performance and speeches from pupils.
He said: βIt was a pleasure to see such energy and positivity in the school and there was a real sense of pride that the students have in their new academy.β
