For the first time, students can see live updates of clearing opportunities at the university.

From Thursday, ‘Clearing Live’ will be broadcast, to coincide with A-level results day and the opening of UH’s clearing process.

It will be led by a presenter at the campus and include interviews from students about university life, lecturers talking about their subjects and information about clearing, accommodation and financial support.

The Student Union will also give details of clubs and societies on offer.

Anyone wishing to secure a place at the University of Hertfordshire can call the hotline on 0300 303 6300 between 6am and 8pm on Thursday. Trained staff will give telephone advice and guidance on options.

Courses subjects on offer will include law, pharmacy, business, learning disability nursing, paramedic science, IT and software development.

The hotline will also be open from 8am until 8pm on Friday, 10am until 2pm on Saturday and 9am until 5pm from next Wednesday (August 19).

Last year, 7,885 calls were taken on the first day of clearing.

Jenny Ventris, head of UH admissions, said: “We are very excited to be using a live broadcast to let people know about the wide range of courses on offer.

“We will actively support students who want to apply through the clearing process.

“The university clearing process is open to everyone. This includes those who have applied through the usual University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) route but have missed out on a place here or at another university or those that have not yet made an application at all.”
