THE University of Hertfordshire has climbed to third place in a national league table of green universities.

The Hatfield-based institute jumped 11 places in the new Green League table compiled by student campaign group People and Planet, which judged 133 UK universities on their environmental credentials.

Andrew Starr, Centre for Sustainable Communities director, said: ““We are proud to have moved up the Green League after implementing dedicated initiatives to improve environmental awareness and Carbon management. Our environment and estates team have worked in partnership with students and staff representatives to increase knowledge and participation through campaigns and activities, including our annual Environment Week. Continual improvement of environmental performance is a key of the University’s sustainability strategy.”
