Potters Bar tots now have an all-singing all-dancing play area thanks to a cash boost from Tesco.

St John’s Nursery Playgroup, based at Oakmere Primary School in Chace Avenue, has revamped its outside play area thanks to £4,000 in funding from Tesco.

The money came from the Bags of Help initiative, which sees shoppers use a token to vote for their preferred cause.

Alyson Gressen, of the nursery playgroup, said: “We want to thank Tesco and the community because we wouldn’t have a climbing frame if they hadn’t put the tokens in the box.

“It was heart-warming to win.

“The children love the climbing frame.”

The money was also used to enhance other outside areas, including a music area with saucepans and wooden spoons.

The nursery playgroup also had a water wall and a builder’s shed, where children can dress up like builders.

Alsyon added: “We have also enhanced the mud kitchen area where they can make pretend food out of mud.

“We have more equipment thanks to the funding.”
