Potters Bar pupils enjoyed a football and academic competition as part of an Arsenal-run community day.

Fifty children, which included youngsters from The Wroxham and Ladbrooke JMI, pitted themselves against each other on the pitch and in the classroom with a series of Arsenal-themed literacy challenges.

The day at the club’s training ground was delivered by Arsenal in the Community, which is run through the sports partnership with Hertsmere Council.

Topping the scoreboard in the end was Clore Shalom School with 74 points, just pipping The Wroxham School by a point.

Councillor Caroline Clapper, portfolio holder for leisure, health and culture, said: “The youngsters involved in this latest session of Double Club had a wonderful time, not only sharpening up their football skills but really getting to grips with literacy.

“Over the eight years of our partnership with Arsenal, thousands of young people in Hertsmere have had the opportunity to enjoy sport and learn new skills.”
