Six members of staff from Pope Paul Catholic Primary School visited Rome on Sunday, October 14 to witness the Papal Mass, which was attended by Pope Francis, hundreds of church clergy and more than 70,000 pilgrims.
To mark Pope Paul VI becoming St Paul VI, the children at the school each received a prayer card, and headteacher Liz Heymoz gave an assembly on Pope Paul’s message of peace and justice, and doves were released on the school grounds to symbolise peace.
She said: “It is a very special moment for our school community as Pope Paul becomes St Paul VI. Travelling to Rome and sharing in the Mass Of Canonisation has strengthened us in our mission as teachers to make God known and loved to our children here in Potters Bar.”
The Doves were provided by Angel Wings Dove Release.
