A Welwyn Garden City school has permanently appointed a headteacher.

Following a two-day interview process, the governing body of Sir Frederic Osborn School has formally appointed Jed Whelan as headteacher.

Mr Whelan accepted the position “without hesitation” and said he felt “extremely honoured”.

Writing a message to staff, pupils and parents, he said: “My mission for the school is to ensure that all the needs of our students are met in every area of school life and that each student is given a wealth of experiences and opportunities to succeed.

“There is much to celebrate at our school and I am excited to lead Sir Frederic Osborn School into its next stage of development ensuring that every student has a happy, fulfilling and successful time here.”
