The new headteacher at a Welwyn Garden City school which was last year criticised by Ofsted has vowed to bring about improvements.

Glen Pettengell last week took the helm at Sir Frederic Osborn School following the sudden resignation of previous headteacher Sue Lewis.

Initially employed as interim headteacher on a two-term basis, he joined from Roundwood Park School, in Harpenden.

Mrs Lewis quit in the first week of term, saying she wanted to spend more time with her family.

Mr Pettengell said: “I’ve only been here proverbially for five minutes, I’m sure when people see things improve over time I’ll have something concrete to show them.”
