THE University of Hertfordshire has appointed a new dean of students ahead of the next academic year.
Ross Renton replaces outgoing dean David Ball, who is retiring after 30 years with the Hatfield-based uni.
Mr Renton first joined the university in 2004, as a member of the faculty of interdisciplinary studies.
He was later appointed head of the department, responsible for developing the uni’s UK recruitment, educational engagement, mentoring and widening participation strategy.
He has also represented the university at national level, advising national bodies including: UCAS, the Department for Education, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and Pearson UK.
On his new role, Mr Renton said: “It has never been more important for students to get a first-class experience at university.
“I want students to contribute to our communities, both on and off campus.
“I will be ambitious for our students, challenging them to excel and ensuring they make the most of all aspects of their time at university.”
