Investigation into incident at Potters Bar school

Police have been made aware of an allegation of common assault at Mount Grace School on Thursday, January 17.
The alleged instance, which was between members of the school community, is one in which there has been no physical contact or injury caused.
A police spokesperson explained that common assault can occur where a person believes they are about to be assaulted, even if they are not.
This newspaper contacted Mount Grace headteacher Peter Baker and the chair of school governors, who is responsible for safeguarding, Mr C Daniel, who refused to comment or provide any details.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said that an internal investigation into an incident was under way, but would not confirm if this is concerning the incident on Thursday, January 17, and refused to provide any further details.
She added: “The school takes safeguarding of both our staff and pupils very seriously.
“We are currently following the appropriate internal procedures in relation to this alleged incident.”
She would not specify what the procedures are.
A police spokesperson, referring to the alleged incident of January 17, said: “Once this has been concluded a decision will be made regarding any further police action.”
