WHEN you think of graduation ceremonies, you usually think of young twentysomethings marking the end of university by throwing their mortar boards in the air.

But for youngsters at Munns Farm Day Nursery, they can say “been there, done that” nearly two decades early.

For the children marked the end of their time at the nursery, based in the grounds of Hatfield Park, at their very own graduation tea ceremony.

Nursery owner Linda Shaylor said: “Some of the children have been with us since we opened four-and-a-half years ago. We have watched them grow from tiny babies to confident young children ready to move onto ‘big school’.

“It was a very emotional ceremony for all of us and we wish them all the very best of luck.”

Parents joined in the celebration where the children received their certificates, sang a graduation song and enjoyed a slice of special ‘graduation cake’.

Parent Fiona Turner, whose son took part in the ceremony, thanked the nursery staff.

She said: “As a result of the excellent care provided, a healthy, confident, sociable and well mannered little boy has graduated.

“While he is looking forward to the next chapter – school – he will miss the staff and friends he has made terribly.”
