A Hatfield school held a Spanish Week to help children further their understanding of Spanish language and culture.

Pupils at Hatfield Community Free School in Briars Lane learnt about important Spanish artists, traditional dances and how to identify Spain on a world map.

They also had the opportunity to try famous foods such as chorizo, vegetable paella, vegetable Spanish tortilla and olives.

The week, which began on Monday, February 8, culminated in a ‘Spanish Dress Up Day’ on Friday, February 12.

School vice principal, Aimee De La Salle, said: “The week was a huge success with the children gaining an excellent understanding of Spanish culture and language, and how they can use the Spanish they are learning at school in their every day life.

“It is really important for us that the children not only understand how to speak the language, but also understand the values, language patterns and different ways of expressing themselves that come alongside this.”
